If you have not started doing professional quality control, you will need to understand these 3 concepts to make sure the QC inspection plan meets your needs and that you obtain products which reach your expectations from your suppliers in Asia. Shipments often represent thousands of products. A solution is to select samples at random and inspect them, instead of checking the whole lot. But how many samples to select?
On the one hand, checking only a few pieces might prevent the inspector from noticing quality issues; on the other hand, the objective is to keep the inspection short by reducing the number of samples to check.

Interpretation of control results is based on using specific rules for acceptance and rejection of QC results, documenting results and decisions, and having a process for resolving problems that result in rejection of results.

Averaging can be a rational and valid approach when the object under consideration is total product assay, but as a general rule this practice should be avoided.
